The CDC said in a report Monday that the people died without exception due to “pre-existing chronic health conditions unrelated to imported drywall exposure.”
The findings by the Atlanta-based CDC back up previous findings by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Large quantities of defective Chinese-made drywall were imported during a past housing boom and after a string of Gulf Coast hurricanes five years ago. The drywall has been linked to corrosion in thousands of homes, mostly in Florida, Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.

Heron Bay New Construction Sales in Parkland, Florida are higher than expected says WCI Executives in a recent Sun Sentinel Article that ran on June 9th, 2011.
WCI Communities Inc. says it has 22 of 196 new Heron Bay homes are under contract in Parkland’s hot real estate center.
WCI started sales in two new neighborhoods at Heron Bay in early May, shortly after getting the city’s approval.
Parkland commissioners reluctantly gave their blessing after some residents opposed WCI building in the community because of the company’s past history with Chinese Drywall.
Roughly 40 percent of the Heron Bay home sites released in Phase 1 are already spoken for.
“Sales are exceeding our projections in this first month,” Douglas L. Schwartz, senior vice president of WCI, said in a statement.
